Nokia Sports Tracker

This app that lets you track different workouts using GPS or A-GPS. There are 4 preloaded workout types and and an option to add 2 more. One of its main features is that it you can upload the data to the service and share it with others. It also has a pedometer function that is activated in the walking and running workouts. This function requires an accelerometer. It has different views in which you can look at the raw data, different types of graphs and the map view. Any pictures you take will also be automatically associated with the route and uploaded to the service when sharing the route. There is support for heart rate monitoring with the N79 active edition.

Nokia energy profiler

Although it's a developers tool, it no doubt has its uses for the average smartphone user. it allows you to measure the power usage of the phone whilst using different applications. It also shows you how long a full battery would last at the current usage. Since it is a developer tool it is quite detailed. This Nokia forum provides full instructions for the app.

Improvements

The default task manager on symbian phones leaves a lot to be desired, but, thankfully there are alternatives available. Jbak taskman is one of the best offerings with plenty of features.

LightCtrl

This little utility lets you decrease the brightness of the main screen more then the 50% limit on symbian phones. It also lets you turn off the keyboard light. It supports timings so you can automatically turn on the keyboard and adjust the back lights at certain times. It also lets you use the camera flash and the main screen as a flashlight.
